In 2000 a pocket watch was found on a shipwreck known locally as the G.B wreck but is the site of two wrecks, the Barbara and Guanito. The watch went down with the Barbara on Tuesday night 9Pm 22nd November 1881. Captain Richard Prichard was not on board as he had died six months earlier on a voyage to the Rangoon. It was on the return journey with the appointed Captain Jones at the helm that the Barbara was steered off course in a series of navigational errors and smashed into the cliffs at Freshwater west in a severe gale. The watch didn’t make it back to Prichards wife and son and sank to the depths.

130 years later his watch finally comes home
